A facial is a non-invasive beauty treatment performed on the face to clean pores, exfoliate away dead skin to encourage cellular renewal aiding a more even skin tone, hydrating and balancing the skins complexion, they are intended to address skin concerns, promote overall skin health and help relaxation.

• Viruses such as colds, cold sores warts
• Bacterial infections such as impetigo, conjunctivitis
• Undiagnosed lumps or swelling
• Broken bones above the decollete and on the face
• Known sensitivity or allergy to products
• Clients under the influence of alcohol

Won’t necessarily stop the treatment from taking place but may mean the treatment may have to be restricted or adapted.

• A client who has had Botox or facial fillers as well as acid peels will need to wait at least a month before treatment and is then its vat the therapist discretion and insurance permitting
• A client who has had facial surgery will need to wait at least 3 months. 
• You'll need to leave up to 3 weeks after dental work
• Recent sunburn
• Cuts/abrasions broken skin
• Eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, acne vulgaris
• Recent sunburn

The skin has been deep cleaned, stimulated and nourished to treat you skin type and concerns.

If your facial took place early AM to lunchtime, a single cleanse at night with an application of serum to treat your skin concerns followed by an application of moisturiser to treat your skin type will be enough until your morning homecare routine starts again not forgetting your eye cream. If you facial was in the later part of the day, PM, then do nothing that evening until morning when your daily homecare routine starts again.

• Avoid picking, squeezing pimples or touching your skin after a facial
• Avoid heat treatments or overstimulating your face
• Avoid highly perfumed products
• Stay out of the sun

• Do not apply make up for up to 8 hours if possible

No hair removal should be performed the same day as a facial. It's advised waiting a few days after to guarantee the skin is back to normal before it's exposed to the sensitivity of waxin.

Most facials are personalised to you on the day but almost all our facials include the following:

• Skin consultation to treat skin concerns and skin type
• Cleanse
• Tone
• Exfoliation
• Decollete massage 
• Facial massage 
• Mask 
• Scalp or foot as well as hand massage in the longer timed facials
• Eye cream
• Serum to treat skin concerns 
• Moisturise to treat skin type
• SPF to protect

Continue with your regular skin care routine until you visit the studio, there is no real preparation other than thinking of any questions you wish to ask. Any make-up can be removed on the day.

All facials are tailored to your skin type and concerns so don’t worry if you book in for the wrong facial.

Just be mindful the timing on some facials is shorter than others. The longer facials have a scalp, foot or hand massage in them, not to disappoint if the booking is for the shorter facial.

4, 6 or 8 weeks is recommended with a good homecare routine to support your skin between visits. Too many visits or facial hopping to different salons can disadvantage the skin leading to increased sensitivity by over exfoliating.

The results can last for several weeks even more if the skin is supported by a good healthy homecare routine. It can be expected to see the benefit for 4-6 weeks for most skin types.

Regular use of homecare products will help maintain desired results and steer you away from problems arising with your skin. To ensure optimum results for glowing radiant healthy skin try adopting the following:

• Healthy lifestyle
• Exercise
• Meditate
• Regular skincare routine morning and night

AM: Single Cleanse with milk in the morning to remove overnight product and sweat.

PM: Double Cleanse with a balm at night using a warm cloth to remove make up /product and daily

pollution.

• Cleaners should be for your skin type
• No foaming face wash
• No wipes
• No micellar water 

Exfoliators: When to use acids

• Salicylic
• Lactic
• Glycolic

Think of it as being age related:

• 20’s - twice a week
• 30’s - 3 times a week
• 40’s - 4 times a week
• 50’s - 5 times a week 

And so on.

Wipe over on cotton pads one of your acids following the instructions on the leaflet to leave on or remove. You can use more than one acid alternating a different one on different days. These act as your exfoliation or use a scrub if you prefer’ (note; the studio nor The Natural Spa factory products use acids, this is for reference and a guide only, Signature Beauty excepts not liability should you wish to introduce them into your skincare routine/use them).

Tone

Most toners are now mists or sprays and are a must to hydrate after applying an acid.

Eye cream

Usually the lightest product in your routine so apply first and only around the orbit (eye bone), overuse will make your eyes puffy. Rice grain size recommended split between your ring finger.

AM/PM

Serums

Under your moisturiser and over your mist.

Serums are to treat your skin concerns e.g. signs of aging pigmentation , scaring etc .

Moisturise to treat your skin type; .

Have an AM and PM moisturiser. Look for night creams with:

• Peptides
• Ceramides
• SPF; AM only, not required at night for obvious reasons

Usually it’s better to apply a broad spectrum SPF separate to the daytime moisturiser and not a

combined one. 

All skin types for everyone providing there are no contraindications getting in the way.
